A Radio Renaissance: Sbu Buthelezi's Comeback Story
A tale of resilience and a fresh start in the airwaves!
Former Ukhozi FM presenter, Sibusiso "Sbu" Buthelezi, is back with a bang, launching his very own online radio station, Voice of Life Radio. After a nearly three-year absence, Sbu is ready to reclaim his spot in the radio industry, and he's doing it with a bold vision and a controversial past.
Sbu, a renowned presenter from Nquthu, northern KZN, made a name for himself with his number one gospel show on Ukhozi FM. However, his journey took an unexpected turn in 2022 when he was abruptly let go from the station due to allegations of scamming individuals with a non-existent poultry business, Abombuso Poultry.
But here's where it gets interesting: Sbu is not one to stay down for long. He's back with a new venture, and he's aiming high. His online radio station, Voice of Life Radio, made its debut on December 7th, 2025, with a one-hour Sunday gospel show, a genre he dominated for years.
Sbu shared his ambitious goal of reaching 10 million listeners by 2026, a target that might seem over-the-top, but he believes in the power of his return.
"Radio has evolved, and now it's a global game. With the digital space, reaching people is easier than ever. I'm confident that my comeback will inspire and remind listeners of God's plans for their lives," Sbu explained.
For now, the station will operate occasionally, with Sbu continuing his Sunday gospel show. But he promises a full-time, 24/7 operation by 2026.
And this is the part most people miss: Sbu's comeback is not just about the numbers. It's a testament to his resilience and a fresh start. He named his station Voice of Life Radio because he believes in the power of overcoming challenges and fresh beginnings.
"God is a God of freshness and new starts. This return brings something unique, and I'm here to offer what God sent me to share." - Sbu Buthelezi
The digital realm offers a wide and expansive space for Sbu's dreams to come true. But what do you think? Is Sbu's vision too ambitious, or is he onto something? Share your thoughts in the comments and let's discuss the power of second chances and fresh starts in the radio industry!
