Ruth Fettis, a local printmaker and one of the judges, praised her work for its 'amazing use of light,' which immediately captures attention and invites viewers into her world.
Van Garon, aged 20, won the 19–21 category with a diverse portfolio including an animation called 'Colt,' a stop-motion figure named Solomon Vanguard, and a poster titled 'The Revenant Program.' Meanwhile, Haleema Aziz, at 25, claimed the top spot in the 22–25 bracket with a series of paintings that showcase her evolving artistic voice.
Ms. Mirza summed up the event by stating, 'The three winners—Juna Tu, Van Garon, and Haleema Aziz—exhibited outstanding skill and innovative ideas. Their work reflects not only talent but also thought-provoking concepts and vivid visual storytelling.'
